New Sekhukhune Athletics Club encourages locals to get fit

Mabowa plans to recruit the youth and the elderly to join his club.

Steelpoort marathon runner, Evans Mabowa’s, mission to keep everyone fit, is bearing fruit. Mabowa launched the
Sekhukhune Athletics Club (SAC) on Saturday  at Ga-Malekane (Da Braves).

More than 100 members joined the club on the first day, and they all want to keep fit.

On the day, locals participated in the 5km, 10km and 15km races. The participants also engaged in aerobics and other fitness activities.

“We want the young ones and elderly people to join us. We need a fit and healthy community. Our youth must focus on sports and refrain from drug and alcohol abuse.”

Mabowa said, “I wish to take the youth off the streets. We want healthy youths who are fit. Maybe the SAC will encourage them to focus more on sport.  Fetakgomo Tubatse has to also produce Comrades winners and
Olympic medallists.”

Mabowa thanked the local communities and businesses for supporting his club.
