UPDATE: Truck driver rescued from steep embankment in Hilltop Pass

A mission of several hours to rescue a truck driver who crashed down a steep embankment in the Hilltop Pass has proven successful.

A truck driver has been rescued and transported to Rob Ferreira Hospital with minor to moderate injuries after his truck crashed down a steep embankment in the Hilltop Pass on the R40 earlier this evening, November 1.

The rescue mission took several hours due to the steep incline of the embankment and thick terrain, however, the driver is in a stable condition.

Emer-G-Med, Search and Rescue South Africa, Mbombela Fire and Rescue and ER24 were all involved in the successful operation.
