UPDATE: WATCH: Rescue op for truck driver continues after crash down Hilltop Pass

A search-and-rescue operation to extract a truck driver who crashed down a cliff along the R40 in the Hilltop Pass is under way.

Efforts to locate and rescue a truck driver who crashed down a cliff along the R40 in the Hilltop Pass near Barberton this evening, November 1, are still under way.

Emer-G-Med reported earlier this evening that a collision involving a heavy articulated truck saw the driver veer off the road and down a cliffside.

Reports of the crash came in just after 19:00, however, due to the nature of the incline and dense bushes down the cliff, emergency services and search-and-rescue teams are still trying to locate the driver.
