A Praktiseer father died in a shack fire on Saturday morning. Joseph Seroale (55) lived in Praktiseer, Shushumela. His shack caught fire at about 04:00. He was inside during the inferno.
Neighbours said they heard the noise of windows breaking and woke up to find Seroale’s shack on fire.
“I called for help, but unfortunately the fire was too strong. He perished in the flames. It was too late to try to extinguish the flames,” revealed one of the neighbours.
Seroale, a father of two, was living alone in the shack without electricity.
Limpopo SAPS spokesperson, Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba, said the police, together with the Emergency Services, were notified about the incident and found the victim inside his home.
“The cause of the fire is unknown at the moment. A case of inquest is under SAPS investigation.”
The Limpopo SAPS commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, said she was saddened by this incident. She has instructed the police to fast-track the investigation and unearth the cause surrounding the fire that led to
Seroale’s death.
