IN PHOTOS: Lila Swift and Piet Pompies wow Lowveld crowd with a Valentine’s performance

Valentine’s Day was celebrated at Mustangs - The Dancing Place with stellar performances by Pieter Rischmüller (aka Piet Pompies) and Lila Swift.

The Baby in Blue Jeans event on Valentine’s Day evening, February 14, saw several Lowvelders come out to Mustangs – The Dancing Place to listen and be entertained by popular musician Pieter Rischmüller (aka Piet Pompies) and Lowveld songbird Lila Swift.

Couples, family and friends made up the audience at the show last Wednesday night and danced the evening away to the many songs the two performed throughout the evening.

Swift was the first to perform and sung several well-known songs as well as two of her own originals, “Gap-jaar” and “Net ’n bietjie tyd”, much to the crowd’s delight.

Soon members of the audience were sweeping across the dance floor while she sang. Swift, a natural at interacting with her audience, engaged with the crowd, encouraging them to sing along. She even handed out a few surprise prizes out to some of the people attending the show.

Rischmüller drew loud cheers when he stepped on stage. The first song of his set was performed as a duet with Swift. The pair sang a beautiful rendition of “Shallow” from the film A Star is Born. Afterwards, Rischmüller was joined by a band made up of local musicians. They all kept the attendees dancing and enjoying their Valentine’s Day throughout the rest of the show.

Rischmüller also handed out a few prizes during his performance.
