Our goal is to meet Africa’s mobility needs through a range of models that are sustainable, safe and aspirational.”

The Rosslyn plant in Pretoria functions as Nissan’s central hub for light commercial vehicle manufacturing for Africa, while its Cairo facility specialises in assembling passenger vehicles.

Highlighting the Navara’s all-new design and construction in Rosslyn by Africans for Africans, Eldessouky expressed pride in the vehicle’s representation of African ingenuity and resilience. The expedition also aims to illuminate the possibilities within the African Continental Free Trade Area, demonstrating the automotive sector’s capability to unlock economic potential across the continent.

Nissan’s commitment to Africa is underscored by its recent expansion into new markets in North Africa, thereby achieving representation in every African country. This expansion includes the future introduction of the Navara to Algeria, Libya and Egypt, marking a significant milestone in Nissan’s growth strategy on the continent.

Supporting the Navaras on this ambitious journey will be a Nissan X-Trail, serving as the expedition’s support vehicle.

Ramy Mohareb, the head of communications and public relations at Nissan Africa, highlighted the expedition’s significance. “This journey is a testament to our commitment to Africa, showcasing the Navara’s ability to withstand the continent’s toughest road conditions, thereby connecting our manufacturing hubs from opposite ends of the continent.”
