Reatlegile Foundation hosts sports tournament for schools in Tubatse

Gobetse High School emerged the winners in both soccer and netball tournaments.

The Reatlegile Foundation, a local NPO in Tubatse, partnered with several stakeholders to organise a sports tournament for local schools at the Mapodile Stadium in Steelpoort, Longtill, on April 13.

The tournament included sporting codes like netball and soccer.

Eight high schools, namely Kgahlanong, Makopole, Ngwaabe Comprehensive, Sehlaku, Gobetse, Mashupje, Seokgome and Mogale wa Bagale participated in the games.

Mishack Chidi of Reatlegile said the Back to School Sports Event is an annual tournament earmarked to improve local sports in schools.

“The purpose is to forge social cohesion among learners and also to unearth the talents of young people.”

Gobetse High School emerged as the winners in soccer, defeating Mashupje 3-2 on penalties after the teams drew  1-1 in normal play.

Gobetse was also crowned netball champions, they walloped  Ngwaabe Comprehensive 52-13 in the finals.

Trophies and gold medals were awarded to the winning schools. Individual trophies were also awarded to the best players in both categories, top scorers and goalkeeper of the tournament in soccer.

Reatlegile’s management thanked Mbojomane Plant Hire and Zizwe for sponsoring the 2024 tournament.
