Mbombela businesswomen boost their confidence during networking session

These businesswomen and members of the SACBW Nelspruit meet once a month when they discuss various issues while empowering and supporting one another.

‘Boost your confidence’. This was the theme of the monthly networking session of the South African Council for Business Women (SACBW) Nelspruit held at the Southern Sun Emnotweni on Thursday April 11.

The businesswomen and members of the SACBW Nelspruit meet once a month for a networking event at which they discuss various issues while empowering one another. During this event, the businesswomen kick-started their morning with empowering talks featuring Bianca Korler and Rona Joubert.

Korler shared insights on property investment and information on how to navigate the real estate market confidently. “Renting has a lack of stability and limits your control, because your landlord makes all the decisions in terms of modifications and renovations.”

Tracy Wicks, Petro Bekker, Isaura Cardoso Pretorius and Charne Oberholzer.

She added that the disadvantages of renting include when the owner decides to sell the property and the long-term financial implications. Korler said the solution to avoid the disadvantages of renting is to purchase a property.
“You can also switch the bond from one bank to another. You then have the option of getting lower interest rates with regards to payment. The funds you save from switching can be used for some home renovations,” she explained.

Joubert gave a transformative talk on integrating yoga and wellness practices to bolster inner strength and resilience.

“Yoga brings mindfulness – being present in the moment. When you sit down on your mat, you take a deep breath, you become aware of yourself and leave things behind; something we do not let ourselves do often enough,” she said.

She said once you gain this presence, you can better understand your emotions.
“You understand what you are going through, your thoughts and reactions to circumstances. You get to understand why sometimes you get so mad and frustrated, and then later on you wonder why you reacted that way. This is because half of me is watching the kids, the other half is doing shopping, and I am also worried about the business meeting. Yoga is specifically cultivated to bring togetherness,” explained Joubert.
Tracy-Erin Duggan of the SACBW said those interested in attending the next meeting can send an email to nelspruit@sacbw.org.
