Truck looted after accident on N4 near Waterval Boven Tunnel

No fatalities were reported. However, some community members looted one of the trucks involved in the accident.

The Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison’s spokesperson, Moeti Mmusi, condemned the looting of a truck that was involved in an accident earlier today, May 6. According to Mmusi, the accident involved three trucks and the cause is still unknown at this stage.

“People should refrain from looting. It is extremely inhumane to take advantage of an accident. Once an accident has occurred, it becomes a crime scene, and you can be arrested if you are found looting. We condemn these actions in the strongest possible terms. It is not the first time we have seen looting happen at crash scenes. It is not the first time such things happen; recently, we had a similar incident in eManzana,” he said.
