The celebration of 30 years of Air Show extravagance is set for this Saturday, May 11. It promises to be a day filled with high-flying thrills and exhilarating, breathtaking entertainment.

Excitement is in the air as the highly anticipated Lowveld Air Show, supported by Absa, is set for this Saturday, May 11.

The Air Show promises a day of high-flying thrills, delicious treats and exhilarating entertainment.

This year’s edition will also celebrate 30 years of Air Show extravagance, and will see an array of thrilling aerial displays and other exciting attractions. One of the highlights of the Lowveld Air Show is undoubtedly the variety of food stalls on offer, with something to satisfy every craving.

Visitors can explore a wide variety of other stalls and exhibitions, showcasing everything from aviation technology to local crafts. Gates open at 10:00, and the official air show programme kicks off at 15:00 and runs until 18:00.

With lovely sunny weather forecasted for the day, attendees are reminded to remember their caps, sunscreen and umbrellas to stay cool and comfortable throughout the day.

However, there are a few items attendees are kindly asked not to bring: gazebos, cooler boxes, your own food, and firearms will be confiscated at the gates. This is to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all attendees.

Johan Heine, chairperson of the Lowveld Air Show, said there will be no shortage of excitement.

“From model aircraft demonstrations to helicopter displays, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Highlights include the Raptor RV Team, the Marksmen Aero Glider, the Kishugu Aviation/Working on Fire Hueys and AT802, helicopters with colour pyrotechnic displays, the Puma Flying Lions’ twilight display, the Tora Tora display with pyrotechnics, rounded off with the breathtaking fireworks display to conclude the evening,” he said.

And once the programme is over, attendees can continue their evening of fun and festivities at the beer tent, where local artist Anton Botha will be entertaining the crowd with his signature tunes. It’s the perfect way to end a day filled with adrenaline-pumping adventures and unforgettable moments.
