Multiple people injured in accident outside White River

A collision between a minibus taxi and a bakkie at the intersection of the Nahemi and Yaverland roads this morning, June 6, left 16 people injured.

The drivers of two vehicles had to be extricated with the Jaws of Life after they were involved in a collision at the intersection the Nahemi and Yaverland roads outside White River this morning, June 6.

According to Emer-G-Med’s Martin Jeffrey, there were a total of 16 patients on the scene, and their injuries ranged from minor to moderate.

He said the emergency services had received the call at 09:42, and found the driver of a minibus taxi and the driver of a bakkie entrapped following their crash.

He said additional resources were requested and the Mbombela Fire and Rescue Department, and the drivers were extricated from the vehicles with the Jaws of Life.

He said all 16 patients, including the drivers, were transported to nearby hospitals by Emer-G-Med and other emergency services, and the scene was handed over to the police for further investigation.
