Well-known politician shot in Schoemansdal

The victim survived the multiple gunshots and is currently in hospital, fighting for his life.

A well-known local politician was shot multiple times in Schoemansdal, Nkomazi on Tuesday, October 1. He is alive and receiving medical treatment in hospital.

According to a provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli, the victim arrived at his residence with a companion at about 21:20 and stopped in front of the gate to open it.

“At that moment, an armed man wearing a black jersey and a white hat approached him and fired several shots, resulting in the victim sustaining wounds. Despite attempting to seek refuge in his house, the man continued firing at the victim. The victim was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment and is fighting for his life, though receiving the necessary care,” he said.

Mdhluli added that the gunman fled the scene and is currently at large.
