Suspect arrested in Bushbuckridge for fatal stabbing

The motive behind the stabbing is as yet unknown, but the police are investigating the matter.

A 26-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stabbing to death a 25-year-old man in a certain tavern in College View, Bushbuckridge, in the early hours of Saturday, October 5.

A provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli, said the motive behind the killing remains unknown at this stage and will form an integral part of the ongoing investigation.

“Following the incident, the Bushbuckridge SAPS wasted no time as they traced and apprehended the suspect in connection with the murder later on the same day of the incident. He is expected to appear in the Bushbuckridge Magistrate’s Court on Monday, October 7, when he will face a murder charge,” said Mdhluli.

The victim, identified by his family as Bright Mnisi from Mkhuhlu near Hazyview, succumbed to his injuries in Mapulaneng Hospital and was certified dead by the medical personnel.
