The accident was a head-on collision that involved one vehicle and an articulated truck.

An accident claimed two lives on the N4 near the Matsulu turn-off this afternoon, December 8. According to the spokesperson for the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Moeti Mmusi, the accident involved a vehicle and an articulated truck.

“It was reported that it was a head-on collision and that there are still people trapped in one of the vehicles. At this stage we are not sure of any injuries, but all emergency personnel on the scene are going to provide updates as time goes by. For now, only one lane is currently closed and a stop-and-go is in place; however, the road might be completely closed for recovery purposes. We therefore advise motorists to drive with caution when approaching or use alternative routes to avoid delays,” he said.
