The Sabie Tube Race 2025 took place at the Castle Rock Campgrounds in Sabie this weekend, February 7 and 8, and it was an absolute blast!
This year’s theme, ‘Heroes & Villains’, added an extra layer of excitement, as many participants dressed up in some creative costumes.
Whether these superheroes or villains were cruising down the river or jamming out in front of the stage at night, the festive spirit was felt everywhere.

Hosted by Round Table White River 64, the event was a massive success. A lot of people showed up, ready to take on the river in their tubes while soaking up the lively atmosphere. Laughter and cheers filled the air as the groups drifted along, enjoying the summer sun and the beautiful surroundings. Some raced their friends, while others took a more relaxed approach, simply enjoying the ride.
But the fun didn’t stop on the water! The entertainment line-up was nothing short of spectacular, featuring some of South Africa’s biggest names in music. The weekend’s performers included DJ Jean, Piet Pompies, Martin Bester & Sy Band, Van Pletzen, Early B, Loufi, DJ Rademeyer, Brian Wilken, Robbie Wessels, Die Heuwels Fantasties, Fokofpolisiekar and DJ Scotty. The music kept everyone excited, singing along, dancing and enjoying themselves late into the night.
Food stalls kept everyone fuelled with delicious eats, while ice cold drinks helped beat the heat. The event wasn’t just about having fun, it also raised funds for charity, ensuring that while the attendees had the time of their lives, they were also giving back to the community.
If this year’s race was anything to go by, next year’s is going to be even bigger and better. If you missed this river adventure, make sure to mark your calendar for next year!
