Heavy rains cause power outage in Mbombela

Electricity has been restored to all the affected areas.

The heavy rains and lightening caused an electricity failure in some parts of Mbombela and White River today, March 30.
The City of Mbombela’s spokesperson, Joseph Ngala, said it has nothing to do with the message circulating on social media that a man was killed while trying to steal a transformer.

Our officials are on the ground investigating the problem in an effort to restore the electricity to the affected areas. Eskom was also alerted, and they will check on their sites to see if everything is OK and to assist if their lines have faults. For now, I cannot give the estimated time to restore the power,” he said.

Ngala also said due to the heavy rains some areas are inaccessible. However, power has been restored to all the affected areas and the municipality’s officials are monitoring the situation.
