Loved and respected doctor passes away

A beloved and well respected doctor in Lydenburg has left a community in mourning after he passed away on Monday, May 12.

Dr Thomas Martin Barton (64), a general practitioner in Lydenburg, was loved and adored by patients, friends and family alike.

His passing has shocked the community and messages of condolences poured in after the news of his passing was shared on various WhatsApp groups.

According to information received, Barton died of a heart attack yesterday afternoon.

He was described by patients and residents as a remarkable man and doctor. His compassion for people was well known.

Spiros Couvaras, a DA councillor and a very close friend of Barton, said that he was a remarkable man and an extraordinary friend.

Messages of sympathy flooded Facebook and WhatsApp after the news of his passing.
