Former boyfriend arrested for murder of Rob Ferreira Hospital nurse in 2022

She was shot dead in her home at the end of June 2022.

A man aged 36 has been arrested in connection with the 2022 murder of a female nurse at the home she was renting in KaNyamazane.

Mandla Sizwe Nkosi was arrested on Tuesday, May, 20 following nearly three years of investigations into the murder.

A provincial police spokesperson Lt Col Jabu Ndubane said the Rob Ferreira Hospital nurse, Thembeka Nomfundo Bembe (33) was shot dead on June 30, 2022.

“No one had any idea who could have killed the professional nurse. The detectives worked day and night to bring the perpetrator(s) to book. Following an intensive and meticulous investigation, we were able to positively link and arrest the victim’s ex-boyfriend this week,” said Ndubane.

Nkosi briefly appeared in the KaNyamazane Magistrate’s Court yesterday, Wednesday, May 21.

He was remanded in custody pending his next court appearance on June 6 for a formal bail application.

The acting provincial police commissioner, Major General Dr Zeph Mkhwanazi, has reaffirmed the commitment by the SAPS in ensuring justice for victims and families affected by gender-based violence.
