Mbombela school suffers significant fire damage

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

A fire broke out at Crocodile Valley Primary School in Mayfern Village in Mbombela on Saturday night, June 14.

The Mpumalanga Department of Education (DoE) confirmed this incident, saying the fire caused significant damaged to the school’s infrastructure.

Three classrooms, the administrative office and staff ablution facilities were affected. Laptops, printers, files and cupboards were burnt.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.

The DoE said its infrastructure team would visit the school on Monday, June 16, to assess the full extent of the damage and to further advise on the course of action to be undertaken.

The public is urged to inform the police of any information they may have regarding the incident.
