Trespassers intercepted in KNP, one killed and one arrested
Three men believed to be from Mozambique were caught trespassing in the Kruger National Park.
A Mozambican man died while another was arrested after being caught trespassing in the Satara area of the Kruger National Park on Saturday, June 14.
The Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane, said a third accomplice managed to escape when the men were intercepted by rangers at about 00:45. They were instructed to stop and instead opened fire at the rangers.
“The rangers returned fire. As a result, two of the suspects sustained serious injuries while the third fled the scene. One died at the scene and another was transported to a nearby hospital where he remains under police guard,” Ndubane said.
