FTLM mayor laments slow pace of service delivery

Maila said the FTLM's aim is the effective provision of services to communities.

The mayor of the Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality (FTLM), Cllr Eddie Maila, has expressed concern over the slow pace of rural road infrastructure maintenance within the municipality.

His concerns centre on delayed maintenance activities such as blading, regravelling and debushing of gravel roads.

Maila met with officials of the municipality’s mechanical, roads and stormwater, and fleet management units to address delays in rural road maintenance and management. The meeting was held on June 28 in Burgersfort.

He also raised concern over the continued breakdown of yellow machinery, which is critical for service delivery in the area.

Maila urged municipal employees to prioritise service provision and to take proper care of municipal assets.

“It cannot be correct that the machinery is always experiencing breakdowns while there is a need for roads to be fixed to enable access and mobility,” he said.

Maila has instructed the maintenance unit to repair the yellow machines within an acceptable timeframe so that they can be returned to service.

The FTLM’s mayor, Eddie Maila, addresses municipal officials.

“All officials must prioritise their work and ensure that municipal equipment is safeguarded and functions effectively and efficiently. The municipality’s aim is to ensure the effective provision of services to communities,” he added.
