SA teen beauty competing in pageant in China

Chriské arrived at the airport on September 13 with her South African flag, to proudly represent SA.

Miss Teen SA, Chriské Schwirzer, a matric learner of Curro Nelspruit, has been selected to compete in the Miss Tourism World pageant in Changsha City, China.

The competition aims to promote and boost tourism by celebrating women who are tourism ambassadors for their country.

She donned a beautiful zebra-print dress on the first day for her photo shoot. The outfit was designed by Jacques Lombard, who drew inspiration from the diverse cultures that make up our rainbow nation.

He is also her modelling coach, alongside Ronell Joubert at the Timeless Modelling & Deportment Academy in Mbombela.
South Africa is one of 70 countries competing in this prestigious Pageant, that culminates in a final on October 2.

“If she makes it to the top 10, she will stay in China for an extra week for media marketing,” Lombard shared.

There are also big prizes up for grabs. The winner also takes home $8 000. When asked what she will do if she wins, Schwirzer’s mother, Anjelien, shared that her daughter plans to save money for her studies after school and empower the youth by supporting charity and welfare organisations.

Chriské said that the competition is very demanding, with long hours in front of the camera and then preparing for the coronation event. She sometimes only gets back to her room at 02:00 after a day of hard work, but she is enjoying every moment.

Chriské is the first model from her modelling school to compete in this competition and asks members of the community to follow her on Facebook to help increase her chances of winning.
