What you need to know about today’s SANParks quotas
An unprecedented number of travellers was recorded at the Kruger National Park on Heritage Day.
SANParks announced earlier today, September 25, that a record-breaking number of visitors entered the Kruger National Park (KNP) on Heritage Day during the ‘free-week pass’ from September 22 to 26.
The nine main gates have been closed to manage capacity and ensure visitor safety amid the high influx of tourists.

JP Louw, head of communication and spokesperson of SANParks shared:
“The KNP management deeply regrets that some guests had to turn back without experiencing the park. While we celebrate the enthusiasm shown by the public, we urge all future visitors to plan ahead and make bookings before departing from home to avoid disappointment.”
SANParks also reiterated that while entry is free during National Parks Week, the standard gate quotas remain in place to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all. They urged visitors to use the online booking system or contact park offices directly to secure their spot.
