Fetakgomo Tubatse named greenest municipality in Sekhukhune District

The Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality won first place in Sekhukhune District for excellence in environmental and waste management.

The Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality (FTLM) has claimed first place for environmental and waste management services in the Sekhukhune District.

The award recognises a municipality that demonstrates excellence in waste and environmental management, contributing to climate change mitigation and the preservation of a clean environment.

The accolade, accompanied by a R50 000 cash prize, was presented to the FTLM by officials of the Department of Economic Development, Environment and Tourism on September 29.

FTLM’s mayor, Cllr Eddie Maila, congratulated the municipality on the achievement and praised the Waste and Environmental Unit for keeping Fetakgomo Tubatse clean.

“This award also goes to locals who joined the municipality in reducing litter and disposing of waste in designated areas,” said Maila.
