Schalekamp to appear in White River court
A post on the Justice for Marco Facebook page claims that while he is out on bail, he remains under strict bail conditions.
It’s been nearly two months since murder-accused Marco Schalekamp was granted bail of R10 000 after he appealed in the Mpumalanga Division of the High Court.

He is expected to appear in the White River Magistrate’s Court tomorrow (October 23), for a possible presentation of ballistic reports. State prosecutor Mbongeni Magagula told the court on August 21 that the investigating officer, Sergeant Mxolisi Keis, said certain elements, including video footage and recordings, still needed to be obtained.

During his bail appeal, former Judge Henk Roelofse ordered Schalekamp to report to a police station near his new address three times a week, and to enter Mpumalanga only for his upcoming court appearances. He was also ordered not to contact any state witnesses and to surrender his passport to the investigating officer.

The Justice for Marco Facebook page shared:
“While Marco is no longer behind bars, he remains under strict bail conditions – facing every court date, every headline, every reminder of what happened. He’s holding on, healing slowly, and doing everything by the book.”
Schalekamp stands accused of premeditated murder and attempted murder following the fatal shooting of Pieter Burger and the wounding of Arno van Niekerk near the White River Rugby Club in the early hours of June 5.
Schalekamp himself sustained gunshot wounds in the incident.
