Fumani Whati sweeps awards in academics, sports, culture & leadership
Fumani Whati excelled during the grade 12 valediction.
Fumani Whati, a Grade 12 learner at Curro Nelspruit, distinguished himself at the school’s valediction by receiving seven awards in recognition of his achievements across academics, sports, culture, and leadership.
In the academic category, Whati earned silver certificates for business studies and English home language, reflecting school-based assessment scores between 75% and 79%. He also received a gold certificate for life orientation, awarded for achieving 80% and above.
His sporting prowess was acknowledged with half colours in athletics, representing the school as a sprinter in the 100m and 200m events.

The award recognises his consistent performance and dedication throughout his high school career from 2021 to 2025.
In the cultural arena, Whati received a cultural merit award for active participation in school productions over two years. He also earned cultural half colours as the Lowveld Got Talent category winner in the modeling division and a participation award from Curro Create in the Write It: One Act Play category.

Whati’s leadership contributions were recognised with a merit award for his role as a 2025 matric prefect, honouring his commitment to service, integrity, and leadership within the school community.
