Mozambican dies on N4 between Ngodwana and Airlie

Fire Services had to use the Jaws of Life to extricate the driver of a Toyota Hilux after an accident on the N4.

Another life was tragically lost in a motor vehicle accident on the N4 between Ngodwana and the Airlie turn-off at about 07:00 this morning, December 9.

Martin Jeffrey of Emer-G-Med confirmed the incident.

“On arrival, crews found that a single-cab Toyota Hilux veered off the roadway and collided with a stationary truck at high speed (allegedly, based on the extent of the damage).

“The driver of the bakkie was a Mozambican man, who was severely entrapped and had succumbed to his fatal injuries,” Jeffrey explained. The truck driver survived without any severe injuries.

Fire Services used the Jaws of Life to extricate the deceased before the scene was handed over to SAPS for further investigation.
