Truck catches on fire after collision on N4 near Berg-en-Dal Monument

A livestock truck involved in a collision on the N4 was not carrying any animals at the time of the accident.

A truck, used to transport animals, collided with the back of an articulated truck and caught fire on the N4 between Dalmanutha and Berg-en-Dal Monument on Sunday evening, November 23.

According to Moeti Mmusi, spokesperson for the Department of Community Safety and Security Liaison, no fatalities were reported in the accident, and the cause is currently unknown.

He added that recovery efforts are under way to clear the scene, and the road is operating on a stop-and-go basis.

“Investigation is under way to determine the cause of the accident, and I can confirm that the livestock carrier was empty at the time of the accident. However, the truck driver sustained minor injuries; he was treated at the scene and released,” he said.

Meanwhile, Solange Soares, spokesperson for TRAC N4, confirmed that there were no fatalities, only one minor injury.
