City of Mbombela issues notice on fireworks during the holidays

Non-compliance may result in a R5 000 fine or three months’ imprisonment.

The City of Mbombela issued an important notice today, December 23, regarding the use of fireworks during the festive season.

Fireworks are only permitted at specific locations. No other area may be used in terms of the Fire Brigade by-laws, unless special arrangements have been made with the office of the Chief Fire Officer on 013 759 0121.

Fireworks may only be used in and around Mbombela at the following venues:

* Mbombela Stadium
* Mataffin Sports Ground
* Parks
* Kamagugu Stadium
* Kanyamazane Stadium
* Matsulu Stadium
* Matsulu Open Sports Ground
* Kabokweni Stadium
* Barberton Rugby Stadium
* Umjindini Sports Ground
* Rugby Stadium
* Nelsville Sports Ground
* Masoyi Sports Ground
* Valencia Sports Field

If residents are unable to access the listed venues, the municipality advises them to use sports grounds or open parks available in their areas.

Parents are urged to monitor and supervise children when using fireworks to prevent injuries and harm.

Non-compliance with these notices may result in a R5 000 fine, imprisonment not exceeding three months, or both.
