Daphne Mokwena, Eskom’s spokesperson, told Lowvelder that an enquiry has been sent to the teams in Mpumalanga and that restoration updates will be shared soon. Many areas around Mbombela have been affected, including Schagen, Uitkyk, Burnside, and others.

“The current weather conditions are placing significant strain on response times, particularly in areas where access is restricted due to flooding, damaged infrastructure, or unsafe terrain. Despite these challenges, Eskom teams are working round the clock to restore electricity safely and as quickly as possible,” the statement read.

Eskom also warned customers to always treat electrical networks as live, even when the supply appears to be off.
