IN PHOTOS | Pirates tube down Sabie River

The Sabie River was more than welcoming for this year's Sabie Tube Race with much entertainment, delicious food and drinks after the race.

The Sabie River was invaded by pirates for a thrilling day of fun during the 2026 Sabie Tube Race over the weekend, February 6 and 7.

The summer weather drew attendees from all over the country, most of whom were dressed as pirates, for the tube race on the Sabie River, at Castle Rock camp grounds.

Organised annually by Round Table White River 64, the event featured a stellar line-up of live performances by both local and national artists on both evenings.

Bass Broers, DJ Rademeyer, Drommedaris, Martin Bester, Ricus Nel, Snotkop, DJ Scotty, Brian Wilkinson, Liam Black, Zaan Sonnekus, and Spoegwolf all entertained the ‘pirates’. They surely lit up the stage and had everyone dance through the night.

The riverside was monitored by Captain Pottie Potgieter and members of the SAPS Mpumalanga Diving Unit. Potgieter said that no injuries or drownings were reported during the event.
