IN PHOTOS: Mbombela community spreads Valentine’s love at Pro Life Pet Rescue

The community answered Cupid’s call and shared love with abandoned pets.

Mbombela’s Pro Life Pet Rescue saw locals turning up in large numbers on behalf of its rescued four-pawed residents. This year, Cupid aimed his arrows not only at humans, but also at abandoned and abused furry friends.

The organisation, which relies on public support, hosted a hugely successful ‘Smooch-a-Pooch and Cuddle-a-Cat’ Valentine’s Day event.

Supporters of all ages spent Saturday sharing love and much-needed affection with the resident cats and dogs.

Dogs were taken for walks and playtime in the garden while cats were cuddled in loving arms.

Not only did the animals benefit, but they also brought joy to many humans as people and pets shared the Valentine’s spirit. Pro Life’s staff expressed their deep gratitude to the Mbombela community for the overwhelming turnout.

The hard work of volunteers, Pro Life’s staff and committee members ensured the event’s success.

“We saw a wonderful mix of people, from the very young to the

elderly, all coming together to spend their day with our animals,” a spokesperson for Pro Life said.

While the event was a celebration, Pro Life’s mission remains as urgent as ever: to save the lives of those who cannot fend for themselves.

The organisation needs the continued support of the public on which it relies for donations, pet food, blankets and cleaning supplies. Volunteers who assist with the daily care and socialisation of the rescues are always needed.

The ultimate aim of Pro Life is for the animals in their care to be adopted and to find a permanent, comfortable and loving home.
