Man arrested for possession of suspected stolen vehicle near Malelane

The suspect was driving a Toyota GD-6 2.8 from the Nkomazi Toll Gate.

Kaapmuiden SAPS arrested a man on Friday, February 20, on the N4 near the Nkomazi Toll Plaza for possession a vehicle that was presumed stolen.

Members were conducting a routine operation in the area when they observed a white Toyota GD-6 2.8 travelling from the Nkomazi Toll Gate towards Malelane. They became suspicious and followed the vehicle. The driver was instructed to stop, and he complied without resistance.

“Members requested permission to conduct a search and circulated the vehicle’s details through the police system. The circulation confirmed that the vehicle had been reported stolen this month in Potchefstroom,” Captain Mpho Nonyane-Mpe explained.

The suspect remains in police custody and is expected to appear before the Barberton Magistrate’s Court on Monday, February 23.
