IN PHOTOS: Motor enthusiasts bring Bavarian flair to the Lowveld

This Chairman's Bash came with a special, meandering drive up the Long Tom Pass from Mbombela.

When two factions of the local motor enthusiast community descended on Hops Hollow Brewery on February 22, they brought with them a touch of Bavarian flair.

The Lowveld Old Wheels Club (LOWC) together with the Harley-Davidson Club of South Africa Lowveld Chapter decided to take on the legendary Long Tom Pass – winding their way from Mbombela up the misty curves to Hops Hollow.

This special event was the LOWC’s 2026 Chairman’s Bash and was held under a German theme.

With cool mountain air, wildflowers in bloom, and valleys stretching endlessly below, the setting was perfect when everyone arrived with their braided hair, boots dusted, and fully ready for adventure.

At Hops Hollow the welcome was warm, the burgers were groß (big), the beer was größer (bigger), and laughter echoed through the hills.

Some of the ladies even graced attendees with a touch of yodeling magic.

“It was one of those days where chrome shines brighter, friendships grow stronger, and the road reminds you why you ride. Prost to good company, good curves and good beer,” the LOWC said.
