Mbombela businesswomen address confidence and conflict resolution

SACBW Nelspruit hosts a monthly networking session for local businesswomen.

The impact of self-confidence and the skills needed to tackle conflict were the focus of the day when the South African Council for Business Women (SACBW) Nelspruit gathered at Premier Hotel The Winkler on Thursday, February 19.

“Confidence is essential for success in both life and business; it influences decision-making, customer service, leadership, pricing and profitability. Your confidence determines how clients perceive you – if you don’t believe in your work, neither will your market,” she said.

According to Kaufman, competence builds confidence. “Confidence is not something you are born with; it is like a muscle that is built through consistency. Feeling self-doubt doesn’t mean you are on the wrong track.”

She added that many women struggle with confidence due to fear of judgment. “Perfectionism, comparing ourselves to others and fear of failure are some of the things that affect women. We are taught to be careful, while men are taught to be courageous.”
