Kidnapping suspect linked to burnt bodies appears in Nelspruit court

A 29-year-old suspect appeared in court after leading police to three unidentified burnt bodies.

A 29-year-old man appeared in the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court today, April 29, in connection with the alleged kidnapping of three Sudwala residents.

This follows the discovery of three burnt bodies along the R535 between Hazyview and Graskop last week.

The suspect, who was initially taken in for questioning, was later arrested and has been identified as Van Rooi Mthobi Tsatsie.

He faces charges of kidnapping, and the case was postponed to May 4 to allow him time to obtain legal representation.

According to police spokesperson Colonel Jabu Ndubane, Tsatsie pointed out the location where the three bodies were found.

The bodies have not yet been identified, and police are awaiting DNA results.
