Competitors in the various distances in the 2026 Sabie Classic / XCM MP #3 had to tackle extremely muddy courses on Saturday, April 25. The persistent rain of the preceding days not only added to the difficulty of the 10, 19, 40 and 65km races, but also added to the spirit of the day.

The female 65km race was a thriller with Tania Bugarin Ortiz (subvet) and Megan Botha (senior) going wheel to wheel for the overall win. They were both credited with the same time, 04:32:39, with Bugarin Ortiz crossing the finish line just in front of Botha.

The evergreen Gawie Combrinck (vet) dominated the male 65km event, winning the overall race in 03:20:23.

Dalmyn Pretorius (senior) was second overall in 03:34:05, and Lumardt Pienaar (senior) third in 03:37:10.

Dané Steyn (junior) was untouchable in the female 40km race, taking the overall win in 02:07:14.

Jemma Barnard (junior) claimed second place in 02:18:07, and Jessica Bell (youth) third in 02:28:48.

Scholtz Boshoff and Paulus Coetzee (both youth) pushed each other all the way in the male 40km event. Scholtz took the overall victory in 01:49:23, with Paulus second in 01:49:31.

Armand Nel (youth) was third overall in 01:51:40.
