“This is a dark moment for law enforcement. It is especially painful because traffic officers put their lives on the line daily to prevent deadly crashes, only for some to lose their lives on the road,” said Macie.
The crash occurred when a state-owned vehicle carrying Lubisi and two colleagues was involved in a side-swipe collision with an Audi SUV.
After the initial impact, the vehicle lost control and was struck again by a truck travelling in the same direction.
Macie encouraged Lubisi’s colleagues to honour his memory by continuing their vital work.
“We appeal to his peers not to be demotivated by this untimely loss, but to continue working to prevent crashes by enforcing the law,” he said.
The MEC further wished the injured officers a speedy recovery, assuring them of the department’s support during this difficult time.
