Calcutta Police Station records 3 shooting deaths since Friday
Gun violence continues to torment residents within the Calcutta policing precinct and surrounding settlements.

Facebook Teaser: The number of gun murders in the infamous Mkhuhlu region continues to climb, with at least 32 recorded since the beginning of 2026.
One man was killed and two were injured during a shooting incident in Marite, which falls under the notorious Calcutta policing precinct. The incident, which occurred at Scotch Tavern at around 23:00 last night, June 27, brings the number of gun murders recorded in the precinct within 24 hours to two, and to 32 since the beginning of 2026.
Mpumalanga police spokesperson Colonel Mavela Masondo said police received information about a shooting incident and members were despatched to the scene.
“Upon arrival, members found a 22-year-old African male lying in a pool of blood,” he stated.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that unknown suspects opened fire on three victims, killing one and injuring two.”
Masondo added that the two injured victims were transported to the hospital for medical attention. According to him, several rifle and pistol cartridges were recovered at the scene.

In an earlier incident, on Friday, June 26, Belfast Trust resident Bethuel “Xibutana” Nkuna (35) was gunned down outside a tavern in Huntington at around 23:30.
Meanwhile, reports have been received that a man allegedly shot and killed his wife in the Masoyi policing precinct, near Hazyview, last night. Available information indicates that after killing her, the man allegedly drove home to Mantangaleni, Mkhuhlu, and turned the gun on himself.
“We are investigating a murder case in Masoyi and an inquest in Calcutta,” said Masondo.
The names of the three individuals killed last night had not been released by the time of publication.
