Ehlanzeni Lowveld Region invests in rugby referee development

azyview Rugby Club celebrated a proud milestone as Ruan Correia and Christo Klopper became the first candidates to complete the assistant referee course, highlighting the Ehlanzeni Lowveld Region's commitment to developing qualified rugby officials.

The Ehlanzeni Lowveld Region has strengthened rugby development by sponsoring assistant referee courses for clubs across the Lowveld, giving aspiring match officials the opportunity to improve their skills and raise officiating standards.

According to Kitty le Grange, chairperson of the Ehlanzeni region, the sponsorship aims to support clubs by improving match management while creating development pathways for referees throughout the region.

The first two candidates to successfully complete the course are Ruan Correia and Christo Klopper of Hazyview Rugby Club, marking a significant achievement for both the club and the wider Lowveld rugby community.

Their accomplishment was celebrated during the Mayor’s League semi-final between Hazyview Rugby Club and Ngodwana Rugby Club at Laerskool Numbi.

Riaan Kotze, vice president of the Mpumalanga Rugby Union, joined Kitty le Grange to officially present the newly qualified assistant referees with their certificates and officiating kits.
