Mbombela motorbike victim identified

Social media users shared heartfelt messages following the tragic loss of a local motorcyclist.

The Lowveld is in mourning after discovering that motorcyclist Wicus Botes died in a crash near the Mbombela Showgrounds on August 16. According to iSecure Mbombela, who responded to the scene, it appeared Botes lost control of his motorcycle and hit a concrete barrier.

Tributes pour in for Botes

Tributes have since poured in on social media. Gert Jordaan wrote:

“RIP my old pal, you will certainly be missed; you enjoyed your bike so much. Strength to the family; we entrust your sorrow to our Heavenly Father.”

Landa Basson said: “This is very sad and also a huge shock. We are thinking of you all, sending much love and strength during this great loss.”

Erika Vermeulen, Botes’s sister, told Lowvelder that her brother is the third adult child her parents have lost.
