Nelspruit Regional Court postpones rhino horn trafficking case
State requests time for the National Director of Public Prosecutions to confirm authority regarding representations submitted by the defence.
Schalk Abraham ‘AB’ Steyn and Limpopo game farmer Dawie Groenewald appeared briefly before the Nelspruit Regional Court today, August 24.

The two face charges of illegal possession and transportation of rhino horns. The long-standing case against them has been postponed numerous times since they were released on bail in 2021.
State requests delay for NDPP review
The defence previously filed representations with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The case was postponed to November 10 for a pre-trial conference and to allow the National Director of Public Prosecutions to confirm the authority to deal with the representations.

19 rhino horns seized in 2021
Steyn and Groenewald were arrested together on July 20, 2021, at a property in the Riverside area, where 19 rhino horns were allegedly found.
