NOTICE THABA CHWEU LOCAL MUNICIPALITY. ADVERTISEMENT FOR RECRUITMENT OF THE EXPANDED PUBLIC WORKS PROGRAMME (EPWP) PARTICIPANTS. Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) is a key government public employment programme that seeks to address poverty and unemployment by providing short term to medium term work opportunities to Previously Disadvantaged Citizens of South Africa. In response to the programme, Thaba Chweu Local Municipality will be appointing 112 workers as specified under the following projects for a period of 12 months. PROJECT NAME: Waste Removal. PROJECT NAME: Maintenance and Cleaning of Municipal Buildings. NUMBER REQUIRED: 17. PROJECT AREA/S: Graskop, Lydenburg, Northern Areas and Sabie. PROJECT NAME: Administration Support. NUMBER REQUIRED: 03. PROJECT AREA/S: Lydenburg. REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES: Qualifying candidates must be physically fit and be between the age of 18 and 55 years. Qualifying candidates must be unemployed and coming from disadvantaged family background. Prospective participants must reside within the jurisdiction of Thaba Chweu Local Municipality. It is essential to mention your ward number and the name of the location in your application form. The municipality would comply with the EPWP Policy which requires that appointments in this regard must reflect 2% people with disability, 55% youth and 60% women. RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for labour-intensive work as required by the programme such as Waste Collection, Safety or Cleaning of Municipal Buildings. The successful beneficiaries will assist with general work on the identified projects to ensure that the municipal environment is always kept clean and safe. Other responsibilities will include general support to various supervisors /superintendents of the municipality as when required.
