People against animals in circus are overreacting

I am not innocent of these offenses either, that is why I don't run around shouting "anti-circus".

I would like to respond with one question to those people: What about your pets?

You probably have a dog. It’s your baby and you feel they lead better lives than most children. So you give them food that is more suited for a sheep than a predator. We keep them confined in yards when they were bred to run kilometres everyday. We expect dogs to act like humans and then punish or get rid of them when they develop behavioral problems. The same can be said of cats.

Parrots are confined to cells and fed on a diet that kills them by robbing them of a long life. Fish are kept in less than a cell (bowls) and to make it worse, their upkeep is neglected. Their lives are spent in a space that is about the same as you living in a bathroom stall, while the toxic water slowly eats away at their gills.

I am not innocent of these offenses either, that is why I don’t run around shouting “anti-circus”.

Those animals are not expected to be anything else but what they are, fed on a more appropriate diet than what we give our animals.

Before anybody turns on me, I did not say that I supported it. My point is merely that to openly condemn something, you must first look at yourself.

At Caxton, we employ humans to generate daily fresh news, not AI intervention. Happy reading!
