Reader unhappy about dates for motorcycle event

Little enough happens in this town that is fun and exciting as it is.

I wonder who was responsible for having the motorcycle trials at this time of the month? I know a people who would have loved to go, my family included, my hubby and little son are so sad they have to miss it, but some folks hardly have food left in the cupboards at this time of the month, leave alone money for something like this.

My hubby thinks if the date was set by a local source, it is probably because they want to keep the “riff-raff” away, the average Joe who doesn’t want to live in debt and struggles to make it from payday to payday, yet would also like to give their children a fun day now and then. Little enough happens in this town that is fun and exciting as it is. Very sad indeed.

Dear JvR,

Unfortunately we are not part of the planning when the dates are set.
The controlling body of trials motor cycling SA decides on the dates in the beginning of the year.
Dates for these events are planned according to a set calendar. The riders are very rarely available during school holidays as many of them go on leave during the time.

The good news is, you can still attend. No entrance fee is charged and you don’t have to feel obligated to spend money at any of the stalls. Feel free to pack your own lunch and come join us for a day of fun.
