I write as a member of the community because whatever affects the municipality, affects us directly as the residents of Thaba Chweu. I remember the words said by Comrade Jabu Mahlangu in our LET meeting, “Mashishing should have developed in competition with Johannesburg according to its minerals and tourism attractions, but because of our infights, the surrounding areas like Burgersfort are developing far away from our town”.
The ANC went to Mangaung divided and came out united; those who were anti-Zuma are today rallying their support behind him as elected by the ANC. If we are truly ANC members we should live according to its principles, by supporting whosoever it puts into position. Our honourable mayor Mr Ncongwane, took office not too long ago, but there is a writer who put all the municipality’s challenges on our current mayor’s shoulders, knowing for a fact that these problems started a long time before he took office.
I appeal to Mashishing to support any person that the ANC puts in office; this will be for our own development and change. We shall never get out of the challenges if we continue to fight each other. I appeal to the community to stand up and support our leaders for progress, no one is greater than the ANC. We today use our beloved media to discredit other people; respecting others will earn you respect. What was written about the mayor is uncalled for and a disgrace.
I will take any attack but knowing that we all have freedom of speech. When will we stand up and contribute positively to our society? The ball is in your court Mashishing, we all have a choice in life, but failure and success depends on how we approach situations. Opposition also should come up with positive contribution, we are all affected whether you are ANC or not.
I humbly appeal to all of Thaba Chweu, let’s unite and contribute with our ideas to rescue our municipality. Those who have ears have heard, those who are enemies of change will respond foolishly.
