A new way of marketing on the go
South Africa's public transport system could be the answer to your marketing needs.
Did you know that South Africa’s public transport system could be a platform for highly successful marketing?
In a press release dated June the 5th 2016, Miguel Correia, Marketing Manager of the Zinto Marketiing Group, explains why.
According to Correia, hundreds of thousands commuters in South Africa travel from their residences to the economic hubs in major cities via taxi’s daily.
Arrive Alive’s latest statistics confirms that the taxi service industry occupies 65% of the public transport system.
The main market spends most of its income on daily transport.
Consumers are excited by experiences, therefore this present an ideal opportunity for experiential marketing to capture the eye of the consumer, Correia says.
An example that can be seen in practice is on Bree Street in Johannesburg where a coffee brand has placed brand ambassadors. While waiting on a cold winter morning in the heart of Johannesburg, for your transport to arrive, you are offered a hot cup of java coffee… this is the way to travel!

According to Correia, key brand messaging is communicated by way of brand activators through live entertainment platforms. As a result, consumers are given the chance to truly immerse themselves in the brand.
This is done by influencing the senses – sight, sound, scent, taste and touch.
According to Correia, marketing activities with experience, generate awareness, engage consumers and enable buyers to take information that is received in at real time.
Advertisers can employ commercials on the television or insert promotions on the radio to promote the product or service and inspire users to download a brand app or visit digital platforms, to further enlarge the user’s journey.
