Man in Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court for culpable homicide

A man has appeared on a charge of culpable homicide. This relates to the death of Mpumalanga Hawks officer, Warrant Officer Gerrie le Grange, who died following a car crash in Mbombela in 2021.

A man appeared in the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court on culpable homicide charges on Thursday, September 21, in connection with the death of the Mpumalanga Hawks’ Warrant Officer Gerrie le Grange.

The Mpumalanga National Prosecuting Authority’s Monica Nyuswa said the matter against Martheius Grobler has been postponed to October 6 for copies of the dockets.

Le Grange died following a collision with a Ford Ranger on September 23, 2021. He had been rushing along Samora Machel Drive near Man Truck and Bus Nelspruit when the crash occurred.

He was rushed to Mediclinic Nelspruit, however, at 05:30 the next day, just over 12 hours after the accident, he was pronounced dead due to complications.
He died just two weeks before his 48th birthday.
