Bowlers take to the greens
The first rounds of the Lowveld mixed pairs were hosted at White River Bowling Club on February 2.
The players were welcomed over a cup of tea while score cards were handed out.
The Lowveld heat was unbearable but the spirit was still optimistic.
Bowlers were ready for their oppositions. A total of 28 teams
entered including Nelspruit, LVCC, White River, Waterval Boven and Lydenburg.
The teams were divided into eight sections. Some sections were very tough and everyone had to try their best.
The format of the game was a knockout that was played over 15 ends. The team with the highest score after the 15 ends were then declared as the winners. Ladies and men paired, some with friends and others with husbands or wives.
It was a battle to find the right weight and exact curve, but the greens ran smoothly on the day.
The finals and semi-finals will be played on February 8 and 9 at the club.
