Primary athletes progress through ranks to trials

On February 4 Barberton Primary School took part in the circuit athletics at the school's sport field, Bouwerpark.

The sub-regionals were held at Laerskool Nelspruit where 15 athletes progressed to the regionals, which were again held at Bouwerpark on February 25. JP Hugo, the organiser together with the senior-phase team manager, Claudia Matthee have put in a lot of effort.

Their organisational skills took the participants to new levels. From the regionals six athletes qualified to go to Lydenburg for the provincial trials.

The following athletes qualified for regional trials
• Tuanè Silver – g/10, shot put
• Thando Khumalo – b/10, high jump and long jump
• Grant de Jager – b/10, shot put
• Bridgette Mlangeni – g/11, 80m and 100m
• Luthando Mabuza – b/11, 100m
• Bandile Mabuza – b/11, 80m
• Nadine Swanepoel – g/12, high jump
• Lindelwa Ntuli – g/12, long jump
• Sisanda Ncanana – g/12, shot put
• Du-Andrè de Jager – b/12, shot put
• Christiaan de Nysschen – b/12, long jump
• Bandile Mabuza – b/12, high jump
• Karabo Ntshasa – b/12, 100m and 150m
• Amanda Maseko – g/13, long jump
• Daniel Charls – b/13, shot put
• Telo Mnisi – bo/13, 100m.
